Parole Authority

Balance of Parole

In circumstances where an offender has been released to parole, had the order revoked and has returned to custody to serve the balance of parole, in circumstances where there are more than 12 months remaining on the order, they are eligible to considered for release on their “balance of parole”.

When considering an offender for release on their balance of parole, parole consideration is considered in the same manner as those who have not yet been released.

In the event the Authority determines release to parole is appropriate, the offender is released on their balance of parole date (known as the date 12 months after they returned to custody), or another appropriate date determined as appropriate by the Authority.
